Elevate Your Coffee Cocktails with the Espresso Old-Fashioned

If you’re a coffee lover and a whiskey enthusiast, get ready for a cocktail that brings out the best of both worlds. The Espresso Old-Fashioned is a smooth, subtly sweet blend of bold flavors, combining our Single Malt dark roast espresso with the spice of small batch rye whiskey. Perfect for after dinner or anytime you’re craving something that feels sophisticated and a little adventurous.

What Makes This Drink Special?

This Espresso Old-Fashioned combines carefully selected ingredients to create a beautifully balanced cocktail. The Clout Single Malt dark roast from infuses the drink with rich, robust flavors, while the rye whiskey introduces warm spice notes that pair seamlessly with the espresso. Cherry cacao bitters add a unique depth, while brown sugar simple syrup rounds it out with just the right amount of sweetness.

Ingredients

2 oz Lionheart Small Batch Rye Whiskey

1 oz Clout (Single Malt dark roast) Espresso

1/2 oz brown sugar simple syrup

3 dashes cherry cacao bitters

Garnish with chocolate shavings

Instructions:

  1. Start with the Espresso: Pull a shot of Clout Single Malt espresso and let it cool slightly. This ensures it won’t melt the ice too quickly and helps the flavors meld perfectly with the whiskey.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, add the cooled espresso, rye whiskey, brown sugar simple syrup, and the cherry cacao bitters.
  3. Shake and Chill: Add ice to the shaker, shake it well to chill the mixture. This step brings everything together and enhances the espresso’s smooth texture with the whiskey’s bold flavors.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Strain the cocktail over a large ice cube in a rocks glass. Top with a sprinkle of chocolate shavings for an extra touch of richness.

The Perfect Pairing of Coffee and Whiskey

This Espresso Old-Fashioned combines the craftsmanship of small batch whiskey with Clout Coffee’s dark roast flavors, making this an ideal drink for those who love complexity. Every sip offers layers of warmth, spice and sweetness, with a touch of chocolate from the garnish to round out the experience.

Try it at your next gathering or enjoy as a solo nightcap—you won’t regret giving this indulgent cocktail a shot.
